About Us

all about Ramco primary school

Ramco Primary School is a small school with a family atmosphere. It is situated approximately 170 kilometres from Adelaide along the banks of the River Murray in the South Australian Riverland and serves a community that is dependent on agriculture and horticulture.

Our current student enrolment is approximately 60, enabling closer relationships amongst students and staff as well as more individualised teaching and learning programs. We have a team of dedicated staff members, all of whom work together to provide the best possible learning environment for the students in our small and supportive class groups.

The school has a strong culture based firmly on the overarching values of respect, responsibility, resilience and honesty. By nurturing growth mindsets, students are given every opportunity to become powerful learners in their own right, as staff support them to become independent problem solvers, self-regulators and resilient learners.

At Ramco Primary School, our aim is to provide every student with educational experiences which will equip them to continue to actively participate in the process of life-long learning. Every student is supported and challenged to be engaged in learning and to achieve their personal best.

“together we learn”

Individual learning plans are developed for each student and are complimented by targeted literacy and numeracy groups which run across the entire school; ensuring appropriate and timely intervention at all stages and levels.

Ramco Primary School has a strong focus on ensuring students achieve high levels of functional English, Mathematics and Technology needed in today’s world. Our three, key improvement priorities focus on whole school numeracy, reading and writing improvement.

On-line learning and the use of ICT is incorporated into teaching and learning and all classrooms are adequately resourced. The specialist teaching domains of our school are Music, Design and Technology, and Spanish language and culture.

Ramco Primary School offers many opportunities for extra-curricular activities that foster and promote leadership, inclusivity and cultural understanding. Students have the opportunity to participate in music, choir, regional sports carnivals, environmental groups and regular Friday afternoon practical learning hubs that are supported by staff and volunteers.

The Ramco Primary School staff and Pastoral Care Worker, work closely with the students, their families and other agencies to develop strong relationships to improve learning outcomes for the whole school community. We offer family support and services, and we encourage life-long learning and involvement in all aspects of school life, pre and post enrolment. Families are encouraged to attend our weekly playgroup session prior to school enrolment and past school students are always welcomed back as role models and volunteers.

We have a proud history and reputation of excellence and strive to deliver a comprehensive educational program within a supportive and equitable environment.
